The Payroll Community Terms and Conditions and Etiquette Policy

Thank you for being part of The Payroll Community. To ensure the best possible experience for all community members, we have established some basic guidelines for participation. Generally, all members agree and are expected to:

·       Be Respectful. No politics or personal attacks.

·       Be Supportive. Answer questions & help guide others, support your fellow payroll professionals.

·       Be Helpful. Only offer helpful fact-based answers.  Don't sell or solicit your products.

About The Payroll Community

The Payroll Community is an online community for PayrollOrg members to share their knowledge and expertise with fellow members. This is a great medium through which to solicit the advice of your peers, benefit from their experience, and participate in an ongoing conversation about the payroll profession.

The Rules

By joining and participating in The Payroll Community, you agree that you have read and will follow The Payroll Community Terms and Conditions and Etiquette Policy, and PayrollOrg's general Terms and Conditions of Use. These rules are subject to change, and it is the community member’s responsibility to keep informed of any changes. If you have questions about these rules, contact our customer service department.

In order to preserve an environment that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate membership in this community for anyone who violates these rules.

·       Be respectful of others. Focus on the content of posts and not on the people making them. Remember, the goal of the community is to provide a medium for conversation and exchange ideas, not to criticize others.

·       Respect the purpose of the community. Use the community to share successes, challenges, constructive feedback, questions, and goals instead of products or services that you provide.

·       Do not post promotions or advertisements (including job listings). Advertisements will be removed and the user who posts the advertisement may be suspended or have their community membership terminated.

·       Do not post anything that you know is dishonest or misleading.

·       Use caution when discussing products. Information posted in the discussion groups and in the libraries is available for all to see, and comments are subject to libel, slander, and antitrust laws.

·       All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited and will be removed from the site. Any user who posts such materials may be suspended or have their community membership terminated.

·       Do not post anything that you would not want the world to see or that you would not want anyone to know came from you.

·       Respect intellectual property. You should only post content that you have personally created or have permission to use and have properly attributed to the content creator. See the disclaimer and legal rules below, which include additional terms regarding the copyright ownership of information posted to the Community. These terms provide PayrollOrg and other community members the right to reproduce content that members post to The Payroll Community.

·       Post your message to the most appropriate communities. This helps ensure all messages receive the best response.

The Payroll Community Etiquette

Beyond the rules, community members also agree to abide by these etiquette principles.

·       Be respectful of other participants’ postings. If you wish to republish the content of a post, ask for permission first. Also, when citing information in The Payroll Community, provide a link back to the original discussion thread or the community homepage.

·       State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search the archives by subject.

·       Send personal messages to individuals not the entire community. Send messages such as "thanks" or "me, too" by using the "Reply to Sender" link instead of posting to the community discussion.

·       Do not send administrative messages to the entire community. Messages such as “remove me from the list,” should be sent using the web interface to change your settings or to remove yourself from a list. If you are changing email addresses, you do not need to remove yourself from the list and rejoin under your new email address. Simply change your settings.

·       Do not misrepresent yourself in your profile. This includes lying about or exaggerating your education or professional experiences or using a profile picture that isn’t you (company logos are not acceptable), and changing your name in your profile to a name that is not your own.

·       Remember PayrollOrg’s other social media channels. You may have an item to share that does not fit one of the community discussion threads but may be more appropriate for our social media accounts.

PayrollOrg disclaims all warranties with regard to information posted on this site, whether posted by PayrollOrg or any third party; this disclaimer includes all implied warranties of merchantability and fitness. Content should not be posted if it encourages or facilitates members to arrive at any agreement that either expressly or impliedly leads to price fixing, a boycott of another's business, or other conduct intended to illegally restrict free trade. Content that encourages or facilitates an agreement about the following subjects is inappropriate: prices, discounts, or terms or conditions of sale; salaries; profits, profit margins, or cost data; market shares, sales territories, or markets; allocation of customers or territories; or selection, rejection, or termination of customers or suppliers. Note: General discussion on salaries in the profession (e.g., the Survey of Salaries and the Payroll Profession) or costs of doing business (e.g., cost per paycheck) are acceptable topics.

PayrollOrg does not actively monitor the community website for inappropriate postings and does not, on its own, undertake editorial control of postings. However, in the event that any inappropriate posting is brought to the attention of PayrollOrg we will take all appropriate action.

PayrollOrg reserves the right to suspend or terminate access to any user who does not abide by The Payroll Community Terms and Conditions and Etiquette Policy.
