Like accounting, and tax prep, payroll work means never having to look hard for work. None of these three fields ever get easier, by design (I mean by politicians), so it is essentially guaranteed lifetime work.
The one assumption is to never assume. The rules change often, with so many fiefdoms having their "say", so learning is a constant. From my eyes, the biggest challenge at present was brought to the front by the pandemic, handling work outside of the office. Even here, it seems there are questions in this area daily, with a clear lack of understanding that wherever an employer allows work IS a work location and nexus for the employer. The other one is the continued use of "salary" as a term for what is really an hourly employee.

Subject: New to Payroll Community
Hello Everyone!
I am new to the Payroll Community and have been in HR/Payroll since November of 2018. I work for a small Community Bank in Rochester, NY but have also worked in Manufacturing and non-profit. I absolutely love Payroll and it would be my dream to start my own consulting business one day. I plan on obtaining my CPP by the end of this year and then keep on moving up! I am very excited to join the payroll community and be able to meet/chat with all of the other amazing people out there who have a passion for the same thing I do. I love making new connections, so feel free to reach out!
